Period Kits was founded in 2019 as a nonprofit in Colorado, committed to ensuring that no one misses life due to a lack of period supplies. Since then, the organization has expanded to Ohio, Minnesota, and North Carolina, increasing the number of distribution sites and the individuals served.
Period Kits NC (PKNC) was established in 2023 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, a city that previously had no menstrual support within a 90-mile radius. Our founder, who was born and raised in Goldsboro, experienced period poverty firsthand. After returning home from Colorado, she was determined to address this gap and bring essential resources to her community.
Since May 2023, PKNC has served six percent of North Carolina through twelve partner agencies. We have distributed over 6,000 kits and 25,000 period products to those in need. The Alliance for Period Supplies has recognized us nationally for our impact and dedication to menstrual equity in North Carolina.
Our mission is simple. No one should have to choose between food and period products. Through advocacy, partnerships, and community-driven efforts, we are breaking down barriers and ensuring that every person has access to the dignity they deserve.
Period Kits North Carolina believes everyone who has a period should have consistent and reliable access to the products they need and are comfortable using when they need those products. With this in mind, we distribute period kits and product right here in North Carolina through our network of supportive community agencies.
At Period Kits NC, we believe that no one should have to choose between food and period products. Access to menstrual supplies is not just a necessity, it is a matter of dignity, health, and equity. Yet, for too many in our community, period poverty creates barriers to education, work, and daily life.
Our journey began when our founder, who grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina, returned home and saw the same struggles she faced as a young girl still affecting others. In 2023, she launched Period Kits NC to fill a critical gap in menstrual support, ensuring that students and individuals in need never have to go without essential products.
Our team is diverse and deeply connected to the mission. Many of us have experienced period poverty firsthand, some have faced homelessness, and two of our team members are veterans. We understand what it means to go without, and we are committed to making sure no one in our community has to experience that struggle alone.
Since launching, we have provided thousands of kits across North Carolina, working hand-in-hand with schools, community colleges, and local organizations to make period products available without shame or stigma. But our mission goes beyond distribution. We are fostering open conversations about menstrual health, advocating for systemic change, and breaking down the barriers that keep people from fully participating in their education and daily lives.
Together, we are creating a future where everyone has access to the period products they need, when they need them, without exception.

Geoff Davis founded Period Kits based out of Colorado in February 2019. While having coffee with a friend, the topic of period poverty came up, the friend remarked "I've been there, I've had food and tampons in my hands and had to put the food back." Geoff thought to himself that no one should have to make that choice and decided to do something about it.
"Period poverty is a complex issue, but Period Kits is simple. Any person that has a period should have consistent and dependable access to the products they need, period."
Geoff is the founder of Period Kits Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging with his seven adult children, attending Front Range Community College, and cheering on his beloved Manchester United.
